Quote to Remember
You get some pretty dramatic results when you get teachers in conversation about student work that is deep and built around common expectations and standards. Teachers are learning to speak the language of writing, which is to talk to kids about what revising looks like, to talk about what kids mean and want to say, to help them understand what peer editing looks like--not just in correcting spelling and punctuation.

Good Lord, I should hope not. Was that not one of the best and funniest things you have ever loved? This S.I. has been packed with unbelievable peak moments I hope to treasure for a lifetime. I needed this more than I recognized. I knew it would be good, but I didn't dare to dream that it would be this good.
My supply of superlatives fail to convey my gratitude or my enjoyment of these weeks. Truly, I will never be the same, and I hope that the connections built between this group will endure and continue to bless us personally and professionally.
As for SBR, that S.O.B. raised the bar this morning to ridiculous new heights. His successors, of which I am one, haven't a chance. Nonetheless, I have to say again, "THANK YOU, BABY R!"
Yep - Slow Baby Reese in a coconut training bra. Then he took a little nap under the tree at lunch. Pretty cute.
Another thought - The Tim O'Brien story still haunts. And Henry made the analogy between war and NWAWP -difficult to explain unless you are there. Is part of it that we are telling the truth? Without admin or other colleagues looking over our shoulder. It may be messy, ugly, or beautiful - but there's something so pure about telling our truth.
