You get some pretty dramatic results when you get teachers in conversation about student work that is deep and built around common expectations and standards. Teachers are learning to speak the language of writing, which is to talk to kids about what revising looks like, to talk about what kids mean and want to say, to help them understand what peer editing looks like--not just in correcting spelling and punctuation.
